The ImaLife study, embedded in the Lifelines cohort, is a population-based study in the northern part of the Netherlands in the regions of Drenthe, Friesland, and Groningen. It is designed to establish the reference values of the imaging biomarkers for lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and coronary artery disease (CAD) in a sample aged 45 years and older. About 12,000 participants have been recruited for the study. Participants undergo a low dose chest computed tomography (CT) and a coronary artery calcium score (CACS) acquisition, followed by a repeat lung scan after 3 or 4 months to assess the volume doubling time. The ImaLife data can be linked to the Lifelines data.
