Iowa Flood Study recruited pregnant and recently postpartum women to assess the effects of a natural disaster on maternal and infant outcomes. Participants were recruited within nine months of the peak of the Iowa Flood in June 2008. All participants were at least 18 years old, English-speaking, and pregnant with a singleton around the flood. Some participants were recruited from a separate study of maternal characteristics hosted by the University of Iowa, United States of America. At baseline, the cohort consisted of 270 participants. The children of participants were also assessed as part of the study.
