The Japanese Study of Aging and Retirement Survey respondents are individuals aged between 50 and 75 years, recruited through stratified sampling of household registrations. The registrations were for the eastern municipalities of Adachi, Kanazawa, Shirakawa, Sendai, and Takikawa. Some partners of the respondents also complete surveys.
