The KBASE is a longitudinal cohort study following individuals with a wide range of cognitive statuses (cognitively normal, mild cognitive impairment, and Alzheimer's disease dementia) to discover novel biomarkers for the early detection of Alzheimer's disease. A total of 591 individuals (365 cognitively normal, 139 mild cognitive impairment, and 87 Alzheimer's disease dementia older adults) aged 20 - 90 years old were recruited from 4 sites (2 university hospital and 2 public centres) in Seoul, South Korea and completed baseline assessment in 2014. Participants are followed annually with clinical and neuropsychological assessments, and biannually with full KBASE assessments, including neuroimaging and blood laboratory tests.
