KERCADRS aimed to assess the prevalence and incidence of coronary artery disease risk factors and mortality rates among 15 to 80 year old individuals. Participants were randomly recruited from households in Kerman, Iran. Almost 5,900 participants aged 15 to 75 years participated in baseline assessment from 2009 to 2012. In phase 2 from 2014 to 2017, phase 1 participants were followed up and an additional 3,000 participants aged 15 to 80 years were added to the study. There was a further phase 3 follow up in 2020, before and after COVID-19 lockdowns in Iran. In addition to interviews and physical assessments in these three phases, participants were followed up annually over the phone.
