In 1998, the Primary School Deworming Project (PSDP) was phased into 75 primary schools in the Busia District of western Kenya. From this, approximately 7,500 students aged 8 to 15 years were recruited into the KLPS in 2003; the aim was to re-interview a representative sub-sample of those that were part of the PSDP. These children were then followed up three more times until 2021, with future plans to continue following the KLPS participants as they age.
