Kyushu Okinawa Maternal and Child Health Study (KOMCHS)

KOMCHS investigates risk and preventative factors in the course and outcome of child and maternal health problems. The study recruited pregnant women aged 18 and older from Obstetric clinics in Fukuoka (福岡県), Kumamoto (熊本県), Nagasaki (長崎県), Ōita (大分県), Saga (佐賀県), Kagoshima (鹿児島県), Miyazaki (宮崎県) and Okinawa (沖縄県) prefectures in southern Japan. Over 17,000 pregnant women between 5 and 39 weeks gestation completed the baseline data collection. Over 1,500 children were included in the first post-natal data collection sweep.
