The LEAD study is a population-based Austrian cohort study that aims to investigate the relationship between genetic, environmental, social, developmental, and ageing factors influencing respiratory health and comorbidities throughout life. Participants were recruited from a random sample of Vienna inhabitants and all the inhabitants of six villages from Lower Austria. At baseline, data was collected for over 11,400 participants from 2011 to 2016. Participants are followed up every four years.
