The Leiden 85-plus Study was a population-based study of 85-year-old inhabitants of the city of Leiden, The Netherlands. Special topics within the study included cardiovascular disease, cognitive function, mortality, and well-being. Between 1997 and 1999, the study recruited approximately 600 participants aged 85 years, born between 1912 and 1914. Participants were assessed at baseline and yearly until they reached 90 years old, between 2002 and 2004, and were followed up for mortality until the age of 95 years.
