Sample details

LEILA75+ aimed to determine a) the prevalence and incidence of dementia as well as subtypes of dementia, b) the prevalence and incidence of mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and c) the occurrence of other related conditions, such as subjective cognitive decline (SCD). Likewise, it was aimed at identifying risk factors and groups of high-risk individuals for the development of dementia, MCI, and SCD. Participants were over 1,200 people over the age of 75 years in South-Leipzig, Germany, living in the community and aged care. Baseline data were collected from 1997 to 1998, and participants underwent five follow-ups every 1.5 years until 2005. There was an additional long-term follow-up 15 years after baseline.
