The LIFE cohort is designed to examine the socioeconomic and environmental influences on maternal and infant health and development in India. The study recruited married women aged 15 to 35 years before or during the first trimester of pregnancy. Participants were recruited from rural and peri-urban areas near Hyderabad, in Telangana state, India. This resulted in a cohort of over 1,200 participants at baseline.
