The participants in Cohort 2 of the Life Patterns Project left secondary school in 2006, when they were approximately 17 years of age. Since 2005, the participants have been followed up annually, with a subset of 30 to 50 participants interviewed every second year. These participants, at the time of recruitment, were based in the Australian states of Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales, and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). The cohort was 45% male, with 56% attending government schools.
