The LIFT cohort is a multicentric cohort continuously including all surviving preterm children born in the French region of Pays de la Loire since March 2003. As of December 2015, over 8,600 preterm children were included in the study. Children were eligible for inclusion if delivered in 1 of the 23 maternity units in the region, of which 3 had neonatal intensive care units, and if born at a gestational age of 34 weeks or less.
