Sample details

The Limache, Chile, birth cohort was carried out in Limache and Olmué in the Valparaiso Region of Chile. The cohort was first assessed between January 2000 and the end of 2002 when the participants were aged between 22 and 28 years. The researchers then completed a follow-up study of the cohort which started in June 2010 and ended in December 2012. They obtained follow-up information for 800 (65%) participants of the initial sample. The attrition rate was greater for males than for females, and for those in the poorest group by number of belongings.
