Sample details

The LLFS examines the genetic and non-genetic determinants of exceptional longevity and healthy ageing. Beginning in 2006, the study includes nearly 5,000 participants from 539 two-generation families in the USA and Denmark. Participants include long-lived individuals aged at least 78 years in the USA and 86 years in Denmark, along with over 1,000 of their siblings, 2,300 offspring, and approximately 750 spousal controls. Follow-up assessments were conducted during a second visit between 2014 and 2017, with a third follow-up ongoing since 2020.
