LoCARPoN is a prospective population-based Indian cohort studying incident stroke and dementia in an urban upper-middle class population in India. Around 7,500 participants aged 50 years and above were enrolled from two areas in South Delhi, and completed baseline assessments in 2016 to 2019. At baseline, the cohort was 51% female, and the mean age was 64.6 years. Participants were followed up every 6 months by telephone for self-reported health information, and in-person every 4 years for comprehensive physical, neuroimaging, and neuropsychological assessments.
