LOFUS aimed to create a scientific resource with a research database and a biobank to investigate cross-sectional differences and longitudinal changes in risk factors and disease burden within and between individuals, families and households. Around 19,000 participants of all ages were recruited from the municipalities of Lolland and Guldborgsund, areas of socioeconomic deprivation in Denmark. Baseline data was collected from questionnaires, health examination, bio samples and biometrics from 2016 to 2020, and participants were followed up through linked registries until 2023.
