This study investigated how the brain changes over time in adolescents with and without anorexia nervosa in the United States of America. Participants were adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18 years who were assigned female sex at birth and had no major medical or neurologic illness. A total of 89 adolescents with anorexia nervosa and 42 healthy controls participated in baseline assessments between 2017 and 2022. Participants were followed up at one and two years after baseline.
