MABEL longitudinal survey of doctors is a trusted national resource producing key evidence to help ensure the sustainability of the healthcare sector in Australia, as well as the delivery of better health outcomes and improved access to medical care. The baselded closine data collection inclue to 10,500 doctors across Australia. For each wave, a top-up sample of doctors not previously invited to participate is included to address the cross-sectional under-coverage of doctors who are new to the medical workforce of the year. The sample in Wave 2 (conducted in 2009) comprised 15,871 doctors: 10,251 continuing doctors who responded in Wave 1 and a top-up sample of 5,620 new doctors. This included 3,906 general practitioners, 4,596 specialists, 1,072 specialists in training, and 924 hospital non-specialists. The final wave (Wave 11) was conducted in 2018/2019, and a short online survey was conducted in 2020.
