The MARS collected nationwide longitudinal micro-level data on aging and retirement in Malaysia and has been conducted every 2 years. MARS Wave 1 was completed in 2019, with 5,613 respondents successfully interviewed. MARS Wave 2 built on MARS Wave 1, re-interviewing Wave 1 respondents and additionally visiting approximately 1,000 new households. Data collection for Wave 2 took place from October 2020 to April 2022 and was completed by close to 5,000 respondents, of which 75% consisted of panel respondents who were participating for the second time.
