MASH aims to study the role of cocaine in the context of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Hepatitis C (HCV), with a focus on liver disease. The MASH cohort was recruited from the Borinquen Health Care Center, which serves minority residents of Miami, Florida, in the United States of America. The cohort includes almost 1,400 participants, and baseline data collection began in 2002. The MASH cohort is a part of the Collaborating Consortium of Cohorts Producing NIDA Opportunities (C3PNO), which states that almost all of its cohorts have visits scheduled every 6 months for participants.
