The Mazandaran Cohort Study is part of the larger Prospective Epidemiological Research Studies in IrAN (PERSIAN) cohort which investigates risk factors for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in populations across Iran. Participants of this study are individuals aged 35-70 years, without physical or mental abnormalities that would hinder participation, residing in Sari and Kiasar in Mazandaran province, Iran. At baseline, over 10,000 participants were included in the study. Participants are followed up annually and periodically every five years to track major NCDs and related risk factors.
