Sample details

MCD is a population-based prospective study investigating the relationship between diet and subsequent cancer risk in a cohort of men and women living in Malmö city, Sweden. Between 1991 and 1996, over 28,000 participants aged 44–74 years completed baseline assessments providing information on lifestyle, socio-economic factors and medical history as well as blood samples and anthropometric data. Participants were followed up in 1997-2001, and a cardiovascular subgroup of 3,700 participants was re-examined for cardiovascular health in 2007-2012. Morbidity and mortality in the cohort have been followed annually using national registers.
