The MELSHA Program was developed by the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation to establish a knowledge base for guiding community-based health promotion for older people. The study recruited participants using electoral roll data. At baseline, MELSHA participants were at least 65 years old and residents of private dwellings in metropolitan Melbourne, Australia. The sample is urban and predominantly from English-speaking backgrounds.
