BACK
Sample details

MEND-A is a qualitative study investigating the benefits and challenges faced by autistic and non-autistic young people and their caregivers associated with pandemic-related school changes during the COVID-19 pandemic in England, Scotland, and Wales. Caregivers of autistic and non-autistic children and their child or children aged between 11 and 18 years were invited to participate regardless of whether the child had a suspected or confirmed autism diagnosis. This resulted in a cohort of over 70 caregivers of autistic and non-autistic young people in addition to 30 autistic and non-autistic children at baseline. Participants were followed-up 3 times during lockdown, prior to the return to school, and after the return to school over 6-9 months.
