The MHURAM Project follows a cohort of over 16,000 households with over 71,000 inhabitants in the district of Moramanga, Madagascar. The cohort included the entire population of 30 fokontany in three of the Moramanga district's communes: the urban commune of Moramanga; the rural commune of Ambohibary; and the rural commune of Ampasimpotsy. Dwellings within each commune were mapped and fieldworkers established the number of household members in each household before collecting individual data.
