Sample details

The MTR is a birth-record-based twin registry that aims to examine how genes and environments interact to influence human development. The registry began in 1983 from the birth records of 4,307 twin pairs born in Minnesota between 1936 and 1955. In addition, MTR includes 901 twin pairs born in Minnesota from 1904 to 1934, as well as 391 male pairs born in Minnesota from 1961 to 1964. The twins completed brief questionnaires when recruited, and subsets of twins have completed subsequent assessments. Parents, spouses, siblings, and offspring of the MTR twins were also recruited. MTR aim to expand into a multi-ethnic registry by including participants from the Carolina African American Twin Study of Aging (CAATSA).
