The MMAP is a population-based longitudinal study to determine the prevalence of dementia and its associated risk among elderly in Marikina City, Philippines. The study began in 2011 with a sample of around 1,300 participants aged 60 years or order. The participants were randomly selected from the senior citizen registry which proportionally represents the percentages of senior citizens residing in all 16 barangays (villages) in the city of Marikina. At baseline, the sample was 70.5% female, and the mean age was 70 years. Participants were followed-up in 2015-2016, and further follow-up assessments are planned to occur every 5 years.
