Sample details

MODIFY aims to develop an MRI-based method to identify the risk of complications in the kidneys, liver, and cardiovascular system of patients with type 2 diabetes. Between 2020 and 2022, the study recruited adults aged 18 and above who had a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes and were receiving glucose-lowering therapy from diabetes units in Liverpool, Oxford, and London in the United Kingdom. At baseline, the study included 135 participants. Participants are followed up in person at baseline, 1 month and 6 to 9 months. Participant medical records are accessed at 1, 3 and 5 years to follow up on participant outcomes.
