The Moncohort Study is a nationwide, population-based prospective cohort study following a representative random sample of over 2,200 Mongolian adults aged 40 years and over. The sample was drawn in proportion to the target population from 5 areas of Mongolia: Western, Eastern, Khangai-Gobi, Central, and the capital city. Participants were randomly selected for the study between March and August 2009 by registration of general practitioners.
