The MoVIES project investigated various aspects of normal and abnormal ageing. It also studied the incidence, risk factors, and outcome in late-life dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. The study cohort was drawn from a rural community in the mid-Monongahela Valley of southwestern Pennsylvania, United States of America. Approximately 1,600 individuals aged 65 years and older were recruited between 1987 and 1989 and followed up every two years until 2002.
