The students involved in MSAS were aged 14 to 17 years at recruitment, and identified through administrative data. Approximately two-thirds of the participants were recruited through school enrollment records, and the other one-third were drawn from the surrounding communities. Of the students, half were female. The participants were followed up annually with the exception of 2012, until 2013.
