The MTwiNS follows the brain and behaviour development of 708 adolescent twins from low-income neighbourhoods in lower Michigan in the United States of America. MTwiNS participants and their parents (354 families) were initially recruited and assessed when the twins were aged between 6 and 10 years in the Twin Study of Behavioral and Emotional Development in Children (TBED-C), as part of the broader MSU Twin Registry (MSUTR). Families from TBED-C who resided in neighbourhoods with above average levels of poverty were re-recruited into MTwiNS during adolescence and followed-up with neuroimaging, clinical interviews, family interactions, and self-reports from the child and parent.
