The Mumbai Cohort Study follows nearly 100,000 individuals from the city of Mumbai, India. The cohort members were aged 35 years or older at baseline and the majority belonged to middle, lower-middle, and lower classes. The cohort was followed up 5 to 6 years after the initial survey in 1997 to 1999. The study recruited more cohort members until 1997, and aims to follow them until mortality.
