Geisinger's MyCode biobanking program started in 2007 and enables the linkage of samples with electronic health record (EHR) data for expansive research purposes. Participation relied on opt-in informed consent, allowing recontact for additional data collection and facilitating the return of clinically actionable results to participants since 2013. By September 2015, over 90,000 Geisinger patients had enrolled, including more than 3,600 pediatric patients via parental or guardian consent, providing a robust dataset for analysis linked to participants' digital health records.
