The NAPLS is a consortium of nine programs. NAPLS2 was the second phase of the project, a five-year prospective study involving 764 clinically high-risk participants aged 12 to 35 years who met the Criteria of Psychosis-Risk Syndromes (COPS). Between January 2009 and January 2012, the study recruited participants aged 12 to 35 years from eight sites across the United States of America. Recruited CHR participants met the criteria for a prodromal syndrome or schizotypal personality disorder (SPD). Recruited control participants did not meet the diagnostic criteria for any prodromal syndrome, psychotic disorder or cluster A personality disorder and had no family history of any psychotic disorder or symptoms. All participants were followed up on every six months for a period of two years.
