Sample details

NCDS is a multidisciplinary national longitudinal birth cohort study of over 17,000 people born in the same week in 1958 in England, Scotland, and Wales. While the study began as a cross-sectional survey investigating perinatal mortality, participants were re-contacted at age 7 and have been followed up across development. In the first three sweeps of the study (at ages 7, 11 and 16), the target sample was supplemented to include people who migrated to the United Kingdom (still born in the same week in 1958).
