NCEC-HRP is a prospective cohort study of Oesophageal cancer (OC) screening in over 100,000 participants from rural areas with a high incidence of OC in China. A total of 121,503 participants aged 40–69 years were recruited between 2017 and 2020 from eight high-risk areas for OC in eastern, central, and western China, representing three different economic-geographical regions. All participants are being followed up annually through interviews and/or record linkage for at least a decade.
