Sample details

NESDO follows over 500 depressed and non-depressed elder participants across 5 regions in the Netherlands: Amsterdam, Leiden, Groningen, Nijmegen, and Apeldoorn/Zutphen. Depressed participants were recruited from either mental health care institutes or general practices, whilst non-depressed participants were solely recruited from general practices. The study design used was the same as the Netherlands Study of Depression and Anxiety (NESDA), allowing for comparison between the younger and older cohorts.
