The NEW1000 study is a population-based pregnancy cohort study of mothers and their offspring in the regional town of Newcastle, in the Australian state of New South Wales. Mothers are recruited through the Initial Maternity Assessment and Planning clinic of the John Hunter Hospital, with the first assessment taking place around 14 weeks gestation. Additional data is also collected on the mothers' partners.
