Northern Finland Birth Cohort 1966 (NFBC1966)

All mothers with expected delivery dates between January 1st and December 31st 1966 in the two northernmost provinces of Finland, Oulu and Lapland, were recruited into the NFBC1966 study. Over 12,000 mothers were recruited from 157 antenatal clinics, and 13 mothers had more than one delivery during the recruitment phase. Over 300 children included in the cohort were twins, and 48% were girls. The cohort has been followed up four times, as well as linking with various databases.
