The NFBC1986 is part of the Northern Finland Birth Cohorts and includes over 9,000 mothers whose children had expected birth dates between July 1st, 1985, and June 30th, 1986, and were based in Oulu and Lapland: the most northern parts of Finland. Almost 9,500 children were born into the cohort. The participants were followed up after 1 year, 7 years, 8 years, 15 years, and 33 years.
