The NISSIN project examined the factors contributing to healthy ageing and longevity in a suburban Japanese community. Beginning in 1996, the study initially included 253 participants aged 64. By 2005, it had grown to include 3,073 participants, born between 1931 and 1940, aged 64 at the time of their recruitment. Follow-up assessments were conducted from 2002 to 2011, assessing participants until they reached 75.
