Sample details

NLSW is a longitudinal survey of two cohorts: a cohort of over 5,000 Older Men and a cohort of over 5,200 Young Men. Both cohorts were first interviewed in 1966 when the Older Men's cohort was aged 45-59 years while Younger Men's cohort was aged 14-24 years. The cohorts were surveyed every 1-3 years until 1983, totaling over 10 rounds of surveys for each, and the Older Men cohort was surveyed one final time in 1990 with widows or other family members for deceased respondents.
