This study investigated whether non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL-C) levels predicted long-term cardiovascular prognosis in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). The study recruited over 1,000 consecutive patients who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) at Juntendo University Hospital in Tokyo, Japan, between January 1984 and December 1994. Data was collected retrospectively using an institutional database. Data were also collected at baseline from participants through serial contact with patients or their families, every five years, from general physicians, and from medical records until 2000.
