The NPS was a nationally representative longitudinal study that aimed to track educational progress among children and youth in Mozambique. It followed 2,234 households across 221 enumeration areas in Mozambique, focusing on children and youth aged 0–17 years or those enrolled in school in 2003. Participants were recruited from a subsample of households originally surveyed in the 2002/03 Inquérito aos Agregados Familiares (IAF), a national income and expenditure survey, specifically those interviewed between March and May 2003. The cohort was followed up between September 2008 and February 2009.
