Sample details

NSHAP investigates the intersection between healthy ageing and social and intimate relationships. From 2005 to 2006, the project recruited individuals aged 57 to 84 years who resided in any of the 50 states in the United States of America. Participants were of various ethnicities: African American, Hispanic or Latino, Asian, and White. At baseline, over 3,000 participants were included in the cohort. As of 2024, the study has collected four rounds of data in 2005-2006, 2010-2011, 2016, and the COVID-19 study in 2020-2021. During wave 3 in 2015-2016, individuals born between 1948 and 1965 were added to the study.
