The Oxford Biobank is a random, population-based collection of over 8,000 healthy Oxfordshire residents aged 30-50 years at recruitment. Participants were recruited via lists of Oxfordshire residents registered with a local general practitioner, with invitation letters subsequently sent out. All participants completed detailed baseline characterisation, beginning in 1999, and selected participants were invited to a second visit at varying time periods. In 2015, OBB also recruited a cohort of participants with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus aged 25-75 years.
