Sample details

The OCHS aims to assess the impact of childhood factors and experiences on developing later adult health. In 1983, the study included over 3,000 children and adolescents from 1,896 families in Ontario, Canada. Participants were between the ages of 4 and 16, with those aged 12 and above being asked more in-depth questions. Follow-up assessments were conducted in 1987 when participants were aged 8 to 20, and in 2000, when they were aged 21 to 33. By the 2000 follow-up, over 2,800 of the original participants were successfully located and assessed.
