The PATH project is a 20-year, population-based, longitudinal cohort study of around 7,500 adults in the Canberra and Queanbeyan area of Australia. The study follows the mental health and cognitive functioning of three age cohorts (birth years 1975-1979, 1956-1960 and 1937-1941) selected at random from the electoral rolls of the Australian Capital Territory and the neighbouring town of Queanbeyan in 1999-2001. At the start of the study, these cohorts were aged 20-24 years (The ‘20+’ cohort.), 40-44 years (The ‘40+’ cohort) and 60-64 years (The ‘60+’ cohort).
